KHABAROVSK BABY HOME #1
Olga, formerly the director of baby home #1
in Komsomolsk, is now the director of #1 in
Khabarovsk.
Dr.Udalova was the director when we adopted Roman in 2000.
Irena our translator, helps Roman drink from a juice box for the very first time.  We brought lots of healthy snack foods to start fattening up our little man, however we were gently scolded by the staff doctor, as the new foods gave him an upset tummy.
Families typically meet their children in the great room, however, when we were there in 2000, the great room was serving as the baby nursery room, as the nursery was being renovated, so we met Roman outside of the 2-3 year old room, in tis small area shown.
Due to the reconstruction space was tight.  We had several visits in this doctors office.
ENTRANCE TO THE BABY HOME
This was Roman's group's room when we visited the second time.  Located in the first door on the right, as you enter the building.  This room was the bedroom, playroom and dining room for the kids.  The bed behind the child shown in this picture was Roman's bed.  When we returned at the end of our second trip to bring gifts and say good-bye, it was nap time.  Another little boy had moved into this group, and was occupying Roman's old bed.  Roman walked over to him, and patted him on the head.  It was SO touching!
Prior to entering  the children's room, we walked through this dressing room.  Each child had a little closet to house the couple of garments they each had.
Natasha was our translator on trip #2. Like Roman, we feel in love with her. Her mom is the director of baby home #2 in Khabarovsk, who we met, and who also knew Roman from the time she had worked at home #1.
